UPDATE 2017-12-22 : Now that we've finally made our Colnect Marketplace public, you might be wondering what will happen to this forum.
For the time being, we'll keep this forum open, allowing people to offer for sale items that are not listed on our catalogs such as lots of items combined, related memorabilia and such.
Please that if an item is listed on our catalogs, you should use the marketplace to list your sale. Also, if an item should be listed on our catalogs and isn't, please go ahead and help us contribute to our catalog.
Before posting or otherwise contacting people using this forum, it is VERY IMPORTANT that you read and understand these guidelines. Failing to follow the guidelines may result in deletion of your posts and deactivation of your Colnect account.
We might change these guidelines as we acquire additional experience, in which case changes will be detailed here and you will see this topic as unread. It is your responsibility to follow changes.
For any questions you may have, please use our support forum.
GENERAL
1/ This forum is given to collectors/sellers/buyers as a FREE service and Colnect is not a part of any transaction done using this forum. We ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE for any problems you might have with any transaction. Read on to ensure you're doing most to protect yourself from possible fraud. We highly recommend reading our swapping tips that generally allow you to reduce your chances of being a victim of fraud.
2/ Any parcel (or package, or letter) sent for any transactions must be sent REGISTERED WITH TRACKING NUMBER. Anyone sending a parcel must have a proof of sending it registered. Taking a picture of the receipt clearly showing the tracking number, recipient address and weight. It is highly advisable to seal the parcel in a way that it cannot be opened and then re-sealed. Failing to do so may mean someone could open it, steal its content, and re-seal it. Responsibility here is with the sender. In case the recipient is willing to receive a NON-REGISTERED parcel, they should clearly mention it in their communication with the sender (for example: "Please send me a NON-REGISTERED parcel and any risks involved will be under my own responsibility") and will not have any claims against the sender if the package doesn't arrive or is tampered.
3/ When receiving a valuable parcel, it's best if you take a complete video showing the closed parcel and you opening it. The video should always show the parcel, use a third party to take the video if needed. In that case, if the content isn't as expected you will have a proof it is not due to you tampering with it.
4/ If your post office is offering you a damaged parcel, you may want to reject receiving it or take a video since the moment you receive it at the post office and opening it there.
5/ All communication regarding the sale should be done using Colnect's forum system and private messaging system. This can later be monitored in case of a dispute. If any part of your communication is done outside Colnect, Colnect will NOT try to mediate and we'll remove any ratings given by either side to the other side.
6/ Colnect may decide to ban you from this forum for violating any of the guidelines here or if we feel your presence here is hurting the community. Failing to comply with a ban may get your Colnect account deactivated. Such harsh measures are not expected to be the default but as we're learning as we go, we want to make sure people don't take advantage of our honest members.
RULES FOR SELLERS
Read the general terms above. Colnect is NOT RESPONSIBLE for any problems you may have using this free service. We highly recommend reading our swapping tips that generally allow you to reduce your chances of being a victim of fraud.
1/ New sale post title would include the category name, catalog code (if selling a single item), short description and final price including shipping and handling. Instead of price you may write AUCTION inviting buyers to suggest a price. Example: Stamp GB-AT 655: Macaroni Penguin : AUCTION. You are NOT ALLOWED to post saying you're a seller and have different items for sale, you MUST be specific about specific items you're selling.
2/ Content of post should contain conditions of sale and items:
a. Detail exact condition of items and possibly include clear high resolution pictures.
b. Detail payment methods you'd accept and expected processing time (receiving confirming for payment, time until sending the parcel and expected delivery time).
c. Write complete price including shipping and handling and detail refund policy. If trying an AUCTION, write shipping and handling costs and the starting price.
d. You MUST include links to relevant items on Colnect. If the items are not found on Colnect but the category exists on Colnect, they should first be added to Colnect, read here. If the category doesn't exist on Colnect you MUST include clear high resolution pictures of the items you offer for sale.
e. With AUCTION sales, the exact end time (including time zone) must be mentioning, along with the currency to be used for bidding. Biddings must be public in the forum and the seller is obliged to accept the highest bid if payment is passed as expected.
3/ During any 7 day period, any Colnect member may post up to 3 sale posts on the forum and any premium member may post up to 10 sale posts. Contact us if you wish to be allowed more posts.
4/ Once a sale is agreed upon, you are NOT allowed to remove the relevant sale post. Buyer is expected to respond there when goods have been received.
RULES FOR BUYERS
Read the general terms above. Colnect is NOT RESPONSIBLE for any problems you may have using this free service. We highly recommend reading our swapping tips that generally allow you to reduce your chances of being a victim of fraud.
1/ Make sure you're 100% clear about the items on sale, their condition and conditions of sale. Save the original post of the sale for future reference.
2/ When sending payment, you must have a clear proof that can be shown in case of a dispute.
3/ When receiving the parcel from seller, you should respond to the original sale forum post detailing is was received and possibly add some feedback. You may use the Colnect's ratings system for sales if you have been given permissions to rate. In such a case, it's best if you provide a neutral rating once payment was sent and write there "Payment sent for sale, awaiting parcel".
REFUNDS
A seller who does not offer refunds MUST STATE IT clearly in their sale. Otherwise, if a buyer is unhappy with the items received, they may ask for a refund. This should be coordinated in advance with the seller explaining why a refund is requested. If the item received is completely different than what was detailed in the sales post, the refund should include ALL price paid AND shipping costs of the buyer. If the item received was as described or very close to it, refund will be ONLY for the item price and shipping and handling costs of both sides will NOT be included. When buyer sends a parcel back for a refund, they must follow the parcel sending instructions above. Sellers should inspect parcel received in the same manner described above as well.
TIPS
When you wish to discuss many items at once (either as a seller selling a lot of as a buyer wanting to buy a lot), it's advisable to use a custom list on Colnect and link to it.
