Help › How Can I Contribute to Colnect?
Colnect is initiated, created and maintained by the Colnect collectors community. As a member, you can join too. There is always something to be done, always something you can help with. You can be part of this active community and help create free global catalogs that benefit collectors worldwide.
There are many options in which you can contribute to Colnect. The major ones are:
- Contribute information to the catalogs. You can use information from your own collection or from other reliable sources. You do not have to have the complete information but what you submit should be accurate. Later, other members may help by adding a missing picture or piece of information.
- Add images to items with missing images. You can use the Collector Comments to quickly and easily submit images to items. You can also do that by joining as an Editor on the catalogs.
- Help correct the catalog. You can use the Collector Comments or inquire about becoming an Editor on the catalog. You can also help merge duplicate items.
- Translate Colnect. Colnect is available in 60+ languages, all translated by collectors just like you. You can help improve and maintain the translations.
- Write articles on our new Collectors Wiki. Our Collectors Collecting Wiki is a free online information resource about all collectible subjects.
- Create a new category. A collectible category you are interested doesn't have a catalog on Colnect? You can suggest and help create a new catalog on Colnect.
There are many other tasks, specific to each category, that are needed at different times. Ask the coordinator of the category as to how you can help.
What is the best way to start?
Fill out the Contributor Application. Your application will be reviewed and you will be contacted with further details.
Free Premium Membership
Free Premium membership is a perk of being a contributor on Colnect. It is given as a thank you to dedicated, active, regular contributors to the catalogs. It is a 3 Month Free Premium Membership. It can be renewed for contributors who have remained active during that time, and continue to be renewed again and again for active contributors. The time in which a contributor is eligible to receive a Free Premium Membership, apart from some general guidelines, depends on various considerations, from the character of the catalog to the character of the work and amount of time put into it. This decision is to be made by the category coordinators, which know the contributors and their work best. Coordinators can guide and instruct you along the way. They are always on your side, and will help you as they can.
If you already are a contributor and would like to receive a Free Premium Membership or to know when you will be eligible for one, please write to your category coordinator. It is always best to also add a post on the forum as a reminder. Coordinators are often very busy and may take some time to reply, please be patient.
Stars
Stars are a badge of honor given to the most dedicated contributors on Colnect. In our 7 star system, each star awarded as a contributor completes much higher levels of contribution. The stars appear on the collector profile page and on collectors list pages. They give credit to those who make our catalogs possible.
Stars are awarded according to the consideration of the category coordinators.
If you have any questions or comments, please post on our Forums.
