Philatelic Product

From Collectors Collecting Wiki

Philatelic Product is a collective term for anything related to the area of stamp collecting, or philately, that is not a stamp (but may contain stamps). Stamps have their own category. The Philatelic Products category was created on 19-Jan-2017 by moving all first day covers and all postal stationery from the stamps category into this new category. Please note that maximum cards can be found in the Postcard category. The list of philatelic product types will likely increase over time as collectors submit additional items.

Browsing the catalog

The Colnect Philatelic Product Catalog can easily be filtered from the Catalog drop-down menu by the following properties:

  • Countries: The country the philatelic product was issued in.
  • Formats: The type of the philatelic product. Currently the following types exist in the Colnect Philatelic Product Catalog:

  • Face Values: The numeric face value, not taking into account the currency. For objects with glued stamps, the number is shown on the stamp. In the case of several stamps, the sum of the same, if of different value. If the stamps all have the same value, you can enter the number multiplied by the value (example 5*0.40). For objects with the value printed directly (such as postal stationery), only the value is reported, without taking into account any added stamps (the value that the object has at the time of issue is considered, therefore without considering any services added later). Some objects built for collectors, while containing one or more stamps, have their own issue value (selling price) printed. You must enter this value (example)
  • Currencies: The face currency of the Philatelic Product. The currency is used as the face value is written, so currencies with divisions will have two currencies listed, e.g. there are both Euro and Euro cent in the list.
  • Years: The year of issue of the Philatelic Product.
  • Themes: The themes or topics the philatelic product displays. Only themes from the Colnect Global Cross-Category Themes List can be used. If you think a new theme should be added, please discuss in the Discussing Themes forum topic.

  • Recently updated: Philatelic products where at least one piece of information was changed in the last 30 calendar days. The last change applied is used to determine the change age of the philatelic product. This can be further filtered by the last 1, 3, 7, 14 and 30 calendar days.
  • Newly added: Philatelic Products added to the Colnect Philatelic Products Catalog within the last 30 days. This can be further filtered by the last 1, 3, 7, 14, and 30 days.
  • Import Log: A list of all New Item Forms (NIFs) that have been imported since the creation of the Colnect Philatelic Products category. It shows date, the person who created the NIF, the coordinator who imported it, the number of philatelic products imported, and the country of the philatelic products.
