I think, PM is not so suitable for live conversation. We should have chat system. For example, Facebook create chat but at the same time, your post at the chat will be a message if the person is not around. If use PM, we need to open the PM each time we want to read, although we are in live conversation- which will take your time. Consider my suggestion.

I have checked out the other threads concerning this topic, I think it is inevatable that most forum type sites will end up with a chat forum of one kind or another what with texting on cel phones and tablets it seems to be where everybody is at nowadays and perhaps COLNECT should be there too, but first perhaps a poll might be in order..What do you think..
Of course moderators would be essential to its well being, I therefore would be willing to put my name forward should you require it.

me too, i think that it would improve the all round cameraderie on colnect. the only problem would be the amount of spam we may get in the initial stages. a robust moderation system would help to eradicate the spamming and hopefully improve the forum as well.
neweden - thank you for your willingness to help. I can check how a system like that could be possible (including spamming issues and all, as moneyer12 mentioned), after a few more responses and then a poll.

Im keen for a chat option as well. It would be nice to communicate with other collectors in real time rather then waiting for emails etc....great idea!!

perhaps we could run it on a trial basis to see exactly how many collectors would use the forum??
Building something for such a chat, even for a trial, requires some time and work. I will leave it on the agenda, and I will announce if that comes up to a trial. It will help if we see more response to it.
