I think it's a well written voice. Personally I prefer a simpler definition. But the use of AI gives more complete descriptions. The work of hamzasaddiq on the development of Wiki pages is a good contribution and should be rewarded with at least one star.

I take this opportunity to point out a little technical problem on the page https://colnect.com/en/collectors/wiki/title=Themes: the list is cut after approximately 340 entries.

He'll get a contribution star alright :)

Are you sure that articles we have are cut out from that list?

All entries from Fishing-boats to Zoos are already made, but they are not in that list.

Update 21 Nov. 2025 : Now the problem is solved, thanks.

I have looked at thousands of Olympic stamps and I would like to propose 3 broad themes that are mutually exclusive (this would apply to postcards, lapel pins, etc):

1- Olympic games: this theme already exist and should be used for summer/winter games held every 4 years since 1896 (with few exception like WW, covid). A word of caution: it's not because the olympic rings are on a stamp that the stamp is connected to an olympic game: it could just means that the event is sponsored/endorsed by the IOC or that the event is a pre-olympic qualifier. For example, Afghanistan-1962-MI 660...(Asian games) or Indonesia-1951-MI 68...(Asian games) or Mali-1973-MI 393.. (african-US games) were all originally under olympic games.

2- Paralympic: I would suggest to change it to Olympic para/special. Although they are different in terms of organization, structure, athletes, etc, they are often used interchangeably and they might not always be easy to differentiate when looking at just the stamp.

3- Olympic youth: they have a restricted age criteria and also includes an educational/cultural component.

I think having these 3 themes will add clarity to all collectors when looking for a specific theme.

Fortunately, I'm not a (Summer) Olympics theme collector. Still, I use those themes when searching the catalog.

All Olympics have the Olympic Games theme (45,205). Direct (Summer games, Winter games, Paralympic games) and indirect (the image shows a recognizable symbol of the Olympic Games).

With a filter set to Include All (Olympic Games AND Winter Sports), a large number of Winter Olympics can be slected (9,610). Whether it is a neat or rather rough selection ...

Selecting the Summer Olympics? I think it's not possible. Summer Sports isn't listed, and simply including Summer (947) as a theme yields a rather meager result (31 stamps in the ST section)... It is quite clear that there are definitely more than 31 stamps in the Colnect ST section that deal with the Summer Olympics

The Paralympics have their own theme. A theme collector of those things can work with that.

A theme collector of the summer Olympic Games is currently out of luck, I think. Or am I missing something.

With the current filter options, a collector can get quite far (one theme, multiple themes AND or OR). However, I don't think combining AND/OR is feasible. Something like 'Olympic Games' but not '(NOR) Winter Sports'. A large number of "Summer Olympics" items could be found with this.

If it is possible, does anyone have any ideas on how to achieve this with the current selection engine?

@y202324

"It's not because the Olympic rings are on a stamp that the stamp is connected to an Olympic Game"

Sounds logical. Yet, an object with the Olympic rings on it is rightly included under the "Olympic Games" theme. If I were an Olympic Games theme collector, those items would also be included in my collection. Direct and indirect links. The rings symbolize...

Perhaps we should consider adding sub-themes like "Summer Olympics" and "Winter Olympics"?

Just like "Paralympics" is already included.

I'm only thinking.

I am an only Olympic stamps collector and Wiki refers to the conventional definition of OG and I do not include stamps from Asian games, pan-am, European games etc with Olympic Rings in my collection. This also applies to chess Olympics, pigeon race Olympics, etc.

in terms of sub-themes, there is no summer games and I look at it as the default theme if it’s not winter games. Maybe it should be added.

Paralympics is a theme but not special Olympics and that’s why I suggested to combine them.

Youth Olympics would be a new theme and looking at other themes, there is enough stamps to have its own.

May I suggest two new or updated themes.

There is currently no theme that includes "Colleges". I have been using "Universities" to date, but it would be nice to either have a separate theme "Colleges" or a combined "Universities / Colleges" theme.

I also have some postcards relating to Nursery Rhymes as opposed to Fairy Tales. I would be good to have this separation in themes. This would be very handy for Stamps and possibly other categories as well as well. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nursery_rhyme
