Re: !NEW! Variants support

Postby Zonnyc »

Hi dana!!

Sorry for the delay in answering.

For Kids Meal Toys There toys with some variations (color, details of brands and other things).

I agree to include special variations in the category.

One toy can count to 5 vaiantes !!

Sometimes it is a bit difficult at the moment to add an image of excellent quality to the catalog.

But it is a challenge we all face as Coordinator 8)

My best wishes :)

Best Regards!!

About the "fingerprint" - I'm not sure I understand, though. What are the "set" and "legend" that comprise the fingerprint?

Hi Dana,

Fingerprint, is anything that you see coined, which may be subject to variation

Zonnyc - thanks for the reply. So how would you define the Variants on KT? Differences in "color, details of brands"? Anything more? Could you give an example I could add to the guidelines? You can also consult SteveJ09 on this.

angelo13 - thank you for the explanation and illustration. Could you give an example of coin variants of fingerprints that I could give on the guidelines?

Hi damages !!

I am sending you an example of multiple variants in one toy:

https://colnect.com/es/kids_meal_toys/k ... esa-Europa

in this clear example is vital to consider the color or some details like the shape of a piece as variant.

errors may be manufactured or any failure of designs.

In some virtual catalogs profit not locate these variants, some listed as variants.

Here in my country, there are variants or perhaps very glaring errors in some Kinder Toys

Best Regards!!

It can happen, for example, that a coin is issued and after a while 'we realize that it was a mistake (which could relate initials as the hair of the face depicted or the symbol of the Mint or even a drawing wrong or often one can understand a mistake aesthetic, as the proportions wrong.

Example of variant which at the time had big resonance is the currency of 1,000 lire 1997 Italian, where the map shown on the first type is completely missing the former German Democratic Republic, then added in the second type (along with the correction of some boundaries they also wrong).

angelo13 - great! Thank you very much, this is a very clear and detailed explanation. I will add it to the guidelines.

I know that I have asked you so much about this already, and you provided so much information, but I have a couple more (last!) questions about the coins guidelines, if you please. I should have asked them before, that's my bad. Coin variants have more details than other categories.

The current list of possible differences is:

Legend

Badge

Sign

Brand name

Date

Fingerprint

1/ What is the brand name? Is that the correct term?

2/ Can you please give me links (without screen shots) to examples for all the options? (except for fingerprint, which you already provided). I think it would make it clear what each difference means.

I mean examples from Colnect for the different variant options. For example: here is an example of a coin variant group with a difference in the composition - https://colnect.com/en/coins/list/variant/4907

It's hard for me to find suitable examples by browsing as I am not familiar with it and don't know what to look for.

What about this?

1/ What is the brand name? Is that the correct term?

Upon some wise advice, I've decided to put the Variant Guidelines as articles on the new Collectors Wiki. This way coordinators will be able to edit and elaborate on their own time if they are interested. I hope that in the near future we will have some Wiki moderators/managers/editors that will also keep an eye on these articles, to keep them as updated and accurate as possible, as they are important to the operation of the catalogs.

I've posted all the current versions I have here: https://colnect.com/en/collectors/wiki/title=Variants

You all are welcome to take a look, make corrections, add examples etc. if you are interested. You can also refer editors to these articles when trying to explain Variant Guidelines. As with all Wiki articles, the "Discussion" tab on each article page could be used to discuss changes to the article. You are also welcome to reply here with your opinion.

If there are coordinators interested in having specific links to these articles somewhere on Colnect, please make a suggestion as to where.

For more information on how to edit articles on the Collectors Wiki please see the HOW TO: Collectors Collecting Wiki Guide & Tips topic.

Probably should have done it sooner but I'm now locking this topic. This is our announcements forum and a long discussion about variants are out of scope here. All who were reading this are welcome to the Wiki page Dana announced here above for current guidelines. Anyone who wants to discuss variants is welcome to start a new topic in the relevant category forum. Thanks.
