Hi,
I think is an useful feature.
Regarding the key cards category we are still trying to define what must be considered a variant. We was working on it modifying the catalog codes. Any way this will be discussed in the proper forum.

Hi!
I am very pleased with this new feature. Thanks!
For category of bank cards mark variants - is very important feature. It is sure to be used. The next logical step - to add a optionally feature to hide variants in list and show only "master" item with link "show variants".
When applied to the category of bank cards I offer the following definition of variant (correct my English - I translate from Google):
Variants - cards with the same or slightly different front image and colors but have minor differences such as bank logo, text elements on the front or back side etc.
Cards with the same design from different banks or from same bank and different payment systems - NOT variants. You can note link between these items with tag [similar] in description.
Hello.
I think very good tool.
I tested with the following series:
Spain
Complet Set
Means Locomotion.............Old Cars Brasilia Aroma (20) https://colnect.com/en/sugar_packets/li ... s_Brasilia
Old Cars Brasilia Aroma Mod B (20) https://colnect.com/en/sugar_packets/li ... rasilia_II
OK
Mario.
Excuse my ignorance, but I have not figured out how that would work "Variant" to be included in the catalog coins
The coins you can have "Variants" "Error" or "defects Coinage"
The variants are those coins that have been modified with respect to the normal voluntarily by the engraver in its features:
(legends, badges, signs, brand names, dates, particulars of fingerprints), while errors or defects of coinage are those coins that have been modified for the incorrect mounting of coinage by the operator or have errors due to deterioration and consumption of the issue during the step of coining.

Can someone tell me how I have to do this?
Greetings,
Carine
I've written the editing instructions in my initial post
Quick editing explanation:
To mark item 123 as a variant of item 333 you go to either of them and click the edit button supplying the ID of the other item. So if you're viewing item 123, you enter 333 there. Now both these items are in the same variant group. You may refresh the page and then click "Click to see variants" to verify it.
To remove an item from a variant group, you edit its variant group and supply 0.

Sorry Amir,
I do not understand the meaning of your explanations.
As you know I'm not a big computer expert.

EDITORS MUST BE IN SYNC WITH THE COORDINATOR about what is defined as variant and what isn't. This is a complicated issue and the important thing is to have one clear line that all editors of a category follow in the same manner.
Detailed explanation about variant group number:
When two items not in any variant group are marked as variants, they'll get the variant group number equal to the lowest ID. So items 123 and 333 above will be in variant group 123.
Now if you see item 444 is also a variant of both these items, you can edit either 123, 333 or 444 and supply ANY number of another item in that variant group. So if I'm editing item 333, I can write 444 there. All these 3 items will still belong to a variant group named 123 (after the first item).
Let's say item 555 and 777 have been marked as variants (variant group is 555). Now we see they are variants of 444 and edit either item adding one of the others. The variant groups are MERGED so ALL the following will be in group 123: 123, 333, 444, 555, 777.
To remove item 123 from that group we edit its variant group and provide 0. All the other items in the group (333,444,555,777) are now assigned a new variant group based on the lowest item ID: 333.
Please feel free to ask
questions
here and provide some feedback about the feature so it can be fine-tuned to suit all your needs.

Hi,
I think this could work like this:
COINS:
Let’s go to Argentina and see km112
We have 3 different coins km112.1, km112.2 and km112.3. Now we can say that ".2" and ".3" are variants of the first one.
Now, we can go to see the first coin from here https://colnect.com/en/coins/coin/1093- ... -Argentina, copy the ID (1093) and insert it in the variant field:
Repeat this with operation with km112.3 and we will see the 3 coins with the link “Click to Variants”.
We can inspect the link and see the 3 coins together from here: https://colnect.com/en/coins/list/variant/1093
As a conclusion, talking about coins, this new feature could be redundant in most of cases, because the catalog code let us know that the coin has 3 variants, but it will be a nice shortcut.
This could be useful for variant that do not have a WCC catalog number, or if we insert coins with different mint mark, for example.
DRINK LABELS:
Now, talking about labels, It could work for volume, for example, I have “Quilmes Cristal” of 350, 750 and 1000. Same label, different Volume an size, I will test it.
Thanks,
Hernán.-
[hbofill12] - thank you for the detailed information
About "Drink Labels" - alright, so Volume and Size. You will let me know what is the phrasing you would like to appear on the Editors Guidelines page.

Thank you for the detailed explanation Hernan ![]()
For coins - this is NOT redundant as when you see one coin, you might not be able of its variants. Using this feature you see clear indication that variants exists and can click to quickly see them.
For drink labels - whichever guideline you decide on is fine by me. Do mind that sometimes using "Series" is a better way to group related items. Your choice.

Thanks, I've already done it for the brand Kruitvat.

as usual, can you explain beautifully.

Now experience has shown that a simple marking as a variant is not enough. We must create a new tool for better differentiation from the individual variants.

[fabellogo] - could you please explain, in short, what is this new tool that is needed (how it works)?
