N00b questions about the video games category

This is the place to discuss our catalogs for all categories which still don't have a big enough collectors crowd here to get their own forum. Since our catalog is created by our collectors, you may find who's responsible for which update and contact them.

N00b questions about the video games category

مشاركةبواسطة UnhingedStamp »

I've been thinking I should categorize my game collection, but none of my games seem to be on Colnect despite being well known Nintendo games. So I need to upload myself.

But what stumps me is the country selection. How do you know what country to select? The same game is typically released in many different countries.

Could you post a short list of game titles you can't find and the Nintendo console/s they're for? Then I'll take a look.

But what stumps me is the country selection. How do you know what country to select? The same game is typically released in many different countries.

Country selection can be a major headache. Much of the time I rely on the MobyGames database to help answer that question, though sometimes you just have to go by what's written on the box.

Thank you so much for the help. I'll bookmark that page you linked to.

I'll post a few titles that I can't find in the catalogue. (Sorry about the awful division of paragraphs. The forum seems to add a single blank row after each end of line, no matter what I do.)

SNES, PAL, Nintendo, Zelda: A link to the past

There's a Dutch version, but this is English only.

Game Cube, PAL, Nintendo, Mario Kart Double Dash!!

There's a Dutch version, but this is not it. Does the language refer to the in-game language? Because my games are either in English only, or English + a few major European languages. But the instructions booklet for this game is in Swedish and Danish.

Game Cube, PAL, Nintendo, Zelda: the wind waker

There's a Dutch and several Japanese versions, but this is an English language game with a Swedish manual.

Nintendo DS, Nintendo/Intelligent Systems, Advance Wars Dual Strike

There is a Japanese version, but this game is in English/German/French/Spanish/Italian.

PC, Firaxis, Civilization III

There is an American version. I bought this game in Finland, but computer games aren't region locked like console games, and the language is English only, so should I just add that to my collection? The box art is completely different though.

PC, Maxis/EA, Sim City 4

There is an American version, but my game has English/Swedish in-game and a Swedish manual.

Does country refer to the country of the developer, publisher or distributor? I just remembered that the company Bergsala has (had?) exclusive rights to distribute Nintendo games in Sweden. I don't know if that is helpful or not.
