Thank you for wanting to help. These guidelines allow us to easily add collectible item information to our catalog. Please read carefully. It's advised that on your first contribution you would send your work with a few items to ensure you have followed the guidelines.
The preferred way of contributing new items to the catalogs is by using NIFiller which is an online NIF generator and manager.
New contributor? Fill out the Contributor Application. Your application will be reviewed by a coordinator and you will be contacted with further details.
Before You Begin
Please contact our database coordinator: Hernán Bofill [hbofill12] about your intended update and the date on which you assume you will finish it. Prevent a state where more than one contributor does the same work.
First Step
"New Items Form (NIF)" is a spreadsheet file. Always check you are using the latest NIF version. Download: Sports Cards
When filled out the spreadsheet file can be uploaded to NIFiller.
Filling the Information
Please fill as much information as possible about every item. Try to include all the items available in the relevant series, country or catalog. Be sure to use standard English alphabet only.
The NIF contains detailed explanations about what information should be written in it. Follow these explanations carefully.
Sports Cards
- Variant - If this new item is a variant of an existing Colnect item, please paste the link to the existing item.
- Series - Use the series names where it is possible and unite relevant issues. Leave blank if not in a series or in an unknown series.
- Player Name / Stats - Please type in the full name of the player on the card. Please make sure that you type in the name correctly. If this is a statistics card or a card that is not dedicated to one player only, please enter the word "Stats" instead.
- Card Number - The number of the card inside the set.
- Season - Examples: for the year 2012 type in "2012". For the Season 2011/2012 type in "2011-11" (yyyy-11).
- Team - Enter the name of the team the card refers to. Please make sure you use the FULL Team name i.e "San Antonio Spurs", "Miami Heat".
- Country - The country in which the item was released. Please choose from the list. Notice that there are options such as "Worldwide".
- Ratio - The ratio is the odds of finding that type of card in a packet of cards. Please enter in this form: 1:36, 1:572 etc. If unknown to you, please leave blank.
- Special Feature - Special mark or detail about the card. Please choose from the list or leave blank.
- Picture file names - Do NOT embed pictures inside the spreadsheet, use only text! You may use a URL (use the complete link to the picture) or a filename (the picture file should be sent with the NIF and filename, without special characters, must be IDENTICAL to what you wrote in the NIF). Please include only pictures without watermarks.
- Description - any additional information to be displayed.
