Kanbun beauties (寛文美人図, kanbun bijin-zu) are a type of genre painting that was painted mainly in the mid-17th century, during the early Edo period in Japan. (Kanbun is a Japanese era name that refers to the period from 1661 to 1673.) They are typically in the hanging scroll format and depict a beautiful woman standing alone, without a background, and are also known as standing beauties. Many of them are unsigned.
