Founded on November 14, 1955 in Ciudad Bolívar under the name of Banco de Fomento Regional Guayana in order to promote and ensure investments in the Guayana Region. In May 1983 it changed its headquarters from Ciudad Bolívar to Ciudad Guayana. On June 6, 1985, it changed its corporate name to Banco Guayana. The bank disappears on June 21, 2012 when its acquisition by Banco Caroní becomes effective.
