increase maximum number of items for lists in the stamp catalog

Messaggioda aerogi »

I remember that the maximum number of item for collection, swap, wish, ignore is 400.000.

Since I am a member of Colnect that is the case, but since then the stamp catalog has increased massively and has now close to 1.5 million items.I think it was arround 800k items when I regsitered 10 years ago.

Both my wishlist and ignore list are almost at that maximum.

Regarding the unmarked list, I already try to use it in such a way that countries of no interest only pop up (Sharjah) , and also excluding the maximum number of emissions like cinderella, specimen etc

fore every stamp issued now, also full panes are posted, which was not the case 8 -10 years ago. And many countries are updated with these full panes. All going to my ignore list. I could maybe try to include that in my unmarked list.

But lately for the US, thousands of stamps are added with collectible margin / label almost each day.

This is the result of only a few days, I have already added thousands of items in the last couple of weeks. At this rate my ignore list of now 357k items will be not enough. And I have learned this will continue for a while.

this is something I cannot exclude as too many countries have attached labels/margins (all items from Israël, Belgium in the early 1900s) and the Netherlands will probably follow too as the stamps shown are without the tab, but they mostly have an intersesting margin.

My wishlist currently has 372k items. Each year I do add a good number to my collection, but soon it will be too small too as with the new issues they are more difficult to find.

So please concider increasing those lists, otherwise I will have to create a large number of personal custom lists with max 20k items.

You made a similar suggestion some time ago, which didn't get much attention. Feel free to add a new poll about increasing the limit for lists (since your new suggestion is not only about the ignore list) and it will be placed on the main page for the suggestion to get more attention.

wow, the number of items almost doubled in just 5 years. It is even more then I thought.

The problem is that most collectors don't reach that amount of items.

Regarding collection only Marsouille is nearing 400k with 350k items, but I can imagine that it would be big set down for him if he would not be able to put items to his collection. I think it will be a few more years though.

a swaplist will never reach that amount, so that we can skip that one

regarding wishlist I notice 18 collectors have 400k and then there are a number of collectors that are around 397-398k, probably to be able to be able to add the most desired items.

regarding the ignore list I have no idea how many collectors are nearing the 400k.

I will create a poll shortly, but I am afraid, it will not be much collectors voting, except for the 'die hard' collectors / contributers.

I think for the "ignore list", the approach should be changed somewhat to in one way or another "ignore" large swaths of items at once.

Maybe by somehow allowing combinations of parameters to the list, which then filters any item matching these without the need of individual items being added to the list. (For example "Country:United States + Format:Stamp with collectible margin" or "IS minor variant"). Or going the whitelist approach, giving the opportunity to designate a field of interest (e.g. "Format:stamp + Catalog:Stamp number" or "NOT minor variant") which filters any item outside of these criteria, the ignore list would then only be needed for the items left within this filter result.

(I don't use the ignore function, so I don't know what of this is feasible or desirable or even possible with current functions.)

Hello,

My ignore list says that it reached its maximum limit at 1009 items (a rather odd number, I think). How can I increase its capacity? I find the ignore list super useful. Thanks,

David

Hello,

You may become a premium member to have higher limits, in particular for the ignore list.

Hello,

Thank you for your answer. I have to admit that, since I do not use the other benefits of the premium membership (mostly due to time constraints), it seems to me that it is too much to pay for just the increased ignore list limit. What a pity. Maybe some time in the future, if I can devote much time to my hobbies...

David
