Due to the humanitarian crisis caused by the global proliferation of anti-personnel mines and recognizing the seriousness of the problem, around 90 countries met voluntarily, signed and negotiated, in 1997, in Ottawa, Canada, a treaty, which is known as the Ottawa Convention.
The Ottawa Convention is an international agreement in which not only the use of anti-personnel mines is totally prohibited, but everything related to development, production, stockpiling, transfer and the rest existence is required to be distructed.
To review the different aspects of this Convention, which has not yet been subscribed by 39 countries, including the United States, Russia, China, Israel, Pakistan, South Africa, North Korea, South Korea and several Eastern European countries, met in Cartagena, Colombia, the (II) Review Conference of the Convention on the Prohibition of Anti-personnel mines, an event that took place between 29 November and 4 December 2009, with the presence of more than 1,000 government and non-governmental delegates from the 156 signatory countries of the Convention. - Comprar Ahora:
