This castle is located in Hakodate, Hokkaido, and was built based on Western military studies after the opening of the country, and the Hakodate Magistrate's Office of the Shogunate was placed there. The castle is characterized by a star shape with five protruding horns called Ryoho, and on the southwest side is the Hangetsho, which is an earthwork to protect the front entrance.
