Editors, if you want to change/edit the name of a series for a specific country, DO NOT use the white "edit series name" button to edit the name.
The series field, it turns out, is a UNIVERSAL field for the Stamps catalog. That means, if you have a series called "Pelicans" in eight different countries and then change the name to "Pelicans of X" for one country, the system will CHANGE the series name in ALL countries that had a series called "Pelicans" into the new series "Pelicans of X." Note, this was something that I myself was NOT aware of, I had assumed that the series name in a country was restricted to that country alone.
So please NEVER ever EVER use the white "edit series name" button for changing a series name within a country to something else. Otherwise, the result will be to change the series name in EVERY country that might use that same series name.
This explains why recently there have been a large number of odd changes in series names in various nations that do not belong that have been reported recently.
The proper procedure for changing the series name for stamps within one country is the following procedure :
1) Choose one stamp from the series, and using the green + icon, create a new series name for that item
2) Once the new series name is created, you can change the other stamps that remain in the old series to the new series by clicking on the series name menu, where the new series name SHOULD appear. (Note that you can NOT be looking only at the stamps in the old series using the series filter to change them, the new name will not appear in the list if you have the series filter on.)
If you have any questions regarding this new policy, or are unclear about how this works, please contact me by PM.
