What is the Collectors Collecting Wiki?
Collectors Collecting Wiki is a free encyclopedic resource of information on all collectible related topics. It is an expansion, an elaboration, of the Colnect catalogs. They are the place to add background, history, interesting facts and details about the collectible items, field and hobby. All the additional valuable and interesting information that has no place on the catalog, belongs on the wiki.
When on Colnect you can access the wiki by clicking the W icon at the top of the page.

You can access specific articles on the Wiki when you see the W icon as you hover your curser over listed attributes on the catalog. Many attributes on the catalogs are linked to related articles on the wiki.

Getting Started
To those who have not edited any wiki before, this is a useful guide to start with: Editing Media Wiki. It is available in several languages, as you can see on the language menu at the top of the page.
In general, basic editing on a wiki is not very difficult or complicated. There are 2 main issues that you should notice: accuracy and form.
Accuracy - make sure that you are using correct, reliable information. You can cite references, you can verify your information with several sources and you can seek advice on the forums and wiki talk pages.
Form - the form of the articles. The articles should be coherent and cohesive. Please take a look at other related articles and how they are constructed before creating or editing an article.
Points and Pointers
- The Wiki is in English only. Please do not add information in other languages. We may add more languages in the future, as the wiki expands.
- Please start with existing articles. Many attributes on the Colnect catalogs are already linked to related articles. See for example the stamps country list. Please try to start with adding information to them, before starting any new articles. If you wish to add a new article or would like to suggest another catalog list should be linked to relevant articles, please first post about it on the Suggestions forum.
- Create an introduction. The beginning of the article should be a broad definition or summary of the subject of the article, as it is presented in the title of the article. If you would like to add additional detailed information (such as historical background, examples, interesting facts etc.), please create a new topic (new paragraph with a secondary heading) for it.
-
Always preview your changes before saving them. Please make sure that you have not accidentally removed relevant information,
left mistakes or mistypes. Make sure that you are satisfied with the look of the whole article before saving it.

- External links should be added only when relevant and necessary. Please do not use the wiki to post irrelevant references.
-
Use the "Talk" pages. Every article page contains a "Discussion tab" in which wiki editors can discuss the changes to that article.
This is a good place to suggest, explain and debate changes.

- If you are not sure about the formatting you are using (headline, link, image etc.), please don't use it. Please check the Editing Media Wiki guide or post on the Forums.
- There are More Editors. If you are worried about your phrasing in English or about the formatting of the text, remember that there are always other editors that can revise and correct the articles. We encourage you to post about your additions to the article and ask other collectors to review it.
If you have any questions or concerns, please post on the Forums.
Good luck to all the writers and editors!
FAQ
Can I add information from Wikipedia?
Yes, you can freely add text information from Wikipedia articles when needed. Please make sure, however, to choose only content relevant to collecting and review the content yourself. You should adjust the text to fit a collectors wiki and add details and links of your own.
Can I use images from Wikipedia?
You can use the Wikimedia Commons files, if you'd like. To do that, please read the Guide to Using Commons Files and note the issue of user license agreements.
Can I link to/use images from Colnect?
Yes, you are welcome and encouraged to add relevant links on the articles to Colnect catalog pages. This is a Colnect wiki after all :)
