Inventory Changes - Quickly add quantity and more

Postby tcawe »

We're happy to present you with the following change: you can now quickly indicate how many (quantity) of an item you have. A small ◇ sign now appears next to your note boxes. Hover over it and a popup will be shown and you can choose to indicate how many items you have.

item_quantity.png

We've additionally ensured item notes can only be added when an item is checked on your list (UPDATE: it is now possible to add notes to unchecked items as before, see the option on your "My Account" page). Removing a check near an item would remove its notes. A warning message is shown if you try to uncheck an item that has notes.

Quick mark option - before removing items using quick mark a warning message will be shown.

Coming up: quickly indicate an item's condition. You could indicate if it's mint/used/other, depending on the category. We've already enabled this feature to our editors and waiting for feedback.

Too inflexible and too limited. I remain provisionally in my personal system of notes.

In the past I marked all stamps I

* don't have

* don't want

using a remark in one of the comment fields. Can't do that any more... :-(

How to distinguish between stamps I don't have and I don't want and stamps I havn't seen on colnect, yet?

I think the "Quantity of Items" feature could be better rendered as a "Willingness to Swap the Item" choice. For example, I would prefer to choose whether to mark an item in Swap lists as 1 of these 3 options:

(-) I badly want to get rid of this (maybe because I have 30+ copies of this extremely common collectible, and I am ready to exchange it with whatever stamp I am offered);

(o) I want to swap it (average availability);

(+) I have some reserves to swap it (maybe because I only have 1 extra item and/or it has a high catalogue value).

As for the "Condition of an Item" feature, I would be more interested in a "Quality of an Item" choice. As a matter of fact, I often mark an item as "First choice", "Second Choice", "To be replaced as soon as possible", "Slightly damaged", ..., so that I can quickly decide what to do in an exchange. The "Offer as Mint" or "Want only Used" are just additional options of this same sort.

From what I have seen of the new feature, I think I will still prefer to use my own comments.

This is only partly interresting for me because I collect all years, mint marks, dots etc.

But now all the fields are AWAY and there is a lot of these field with data on it

I don't collect gold coins but I had info on the fields and without marking them as wish ALL these info's is lost

There is no place for collection info and this is very important for collecton, swaps and likes

Also at the coins with the proof editions only 3 options are posible

Proof - proof corroded and proof scratched

With a proof coin there is no unc - EXtremely fine - Very Fine - Fine - Good - Poor

To put a separate years option would be much beter.

The quantity is to limited.

I suggest replacing the "+" button with one which allows customized quantities.

:)

Thank you all for your feedback.

bernard41 - it'll soon be translateable in the relevant help page we'll create

mitanisch and https://colnect.com/en/help/collecting/ ... onal_lists - the feature is supposed to be limited, answering the basic needs. If there's something you can suggest that will be useful for most, feel free to suggest it. Dario - your suggestions seem like someting quite personal. If you think it'll serve most collectors, please get more people to support it here in the forum.

vossi - the simplest way would be to use a Custom List and mark items with it. Create a list named "Not interested".

JWPcoinmaster - for coins and banknotes, we plan to add an exact years list. To information is lost. If you would like all notes you've given to unmarked item to become seen, I can run something which will automatically check all items you haven't checked but written a comment for.

maddox1313 - that seems like a good idea. I'll try to implement it now.

Hi, I dont' like the new feature, that allows me to put note only if the item is "marked".

I had insert a lot of note in the line not marked, for example the name of the friend that is giving me the stamp, or if i had the stamp but is cut, or if i had mark a similar stamps (phosphor, or normal papaer), ecc.. theese was all PRIVATE NOTE, because if the stamps is mark as "missing" and you put the note in the line "swap", no-one can see the note.

Now the note are all lost.. and i can not know if friend is just giving me the stamps.

i can not creare a list for each friend, because i do a lot of swap, and i can create only 2 lists, of 50 stamps each.

is possibile to recovery the lost note?!

Thanks Amir,

I like it very much.

I have some remarks in the collection list there appears the next condition as I adjust. Could you put a space between the number of item and the condition.

I attach a picture

Excellent feature. I like it very much. However there is a little bug with the condition feature. I have a coin that I just received and added it to my collection, then I selected the condition as 'Extremely Fine', however when I click the coin to see for example how many collectors have the coin, the condition shows as 'UNC' next to my name.

Gentili Signori Buonasera,

For all those who previously used notes where items are not checked, these notes are now shown again. Please write here if you still cannot see them and add links and screen shots. I've started a poll about reverting this change, please vote: https://colnect.com/forum/viewtopic!f=144&t=39846

Luis93 - this is NOT a bug, but part of the feature. You are PUBLICLY noting the quantity and condition and, as other public comments, this appears next to your name on a single item page.

SethChimera - the quantity is now up to 2 digits so this should often look fine. Mind that if we take more space, we have less space for the text comments.
