SPORTS CARDS

Postby neweden »

i was just wondering, has there ever been a suggestion for a swap section on sports cards.

BASEBALL, AMERICAN FOOTBALL,and ICE HOCKEY are big here in North America and now that Beckham plays football (Socker) here there is a demand for South American and european football players on cards, I think it would be a brilliant idea to have a sportcard section here on COLNECT.

Anybody else like to see this here........... :!: :?: :!: :?: :!: :?:

It would be a most welcomed addition to Colnect without a doubt. Please read More Collectibles? and write here if you would like to head a new category on Colnect. Thanks :)

This could be a very good and popular category. Anyone has suggestions of a collector that would be willing to be a coordinator for this?

TCGs has games, sports cards include whole teams of baseball, basketball, etc. players. They are widely collected but not used as games.

I have thousands of sports cards that I would like to place into a catalog here.

I am willing to get it set up and running and work as an editor, but perhaps someone else would like to be the coordinator.

I can start processing the NIFs and forwarding them whenever admin is ready.

Just waiting for the go ahead.

any time

any second now

Where did everyone go...........

This is a good potential category.

[neweden] - if you would like to see this category on Colnect, maybe you know some collector that is interested? You can ask them to reply here on the forum to discuss the possibility of coordinating.

Alright!

[tcawe] decided we will be making this category :D , and see about the coordinator issue later. I will be responsible for building it for now, so I would be very thankful for your advice and opinions as collectors.

Is will be new category, defined as "Trading Cards" meaning any kind of cards that can be traded (excluding Trading Card Games - that have a different specific purpose for a game, not only for collection and trade).

What would be important fields to include in the NIF?

[SerdarAkar] - I see that some cards may need to be moved from the TCG category to a Trading Cards category, right?

What a blast from the past!! I used to have thousands of these things.

Navigation could be:

Trading Cards -> Sport or Genre -> Brand -> Year -> Series List

(Trading Cards -> Basketball -> Upper Deck -> 2011 -> Common Cards (Or "Insert" set name)

Each basketball brand would include a common set of cards, and then maybe a couple of extra sets commonly called "Inserts". So when listing them in the catalog, I believe they should be listed as seperate sets.

NIF Information:

- Series

- Card Number / Catalog Number (This alone may need a bit of discussion as the best way to create a unique numbering system that can be universally used and understood across all the different sports)

- Description (Player Name)

- Team (Some collectors may collect specific teams if they only support that franchise. So this should seperate to allow for easier search options)

- Card Type (i.e Common Card, Insert)

- Rarity (This could be included...but it is hard to judge. Some price guides I have been looking at whilst doing some research have reference to rarity, but again this would require a bit of discussion before settling on a system)

- Pictures

- Description / Comments
