Die-Cast Model

A die-cast model is a representation of an object usually on a smaller scale than the original. Die-cast models representing different kinds of vehicles are highly collectible.
Browsing the Catalog
The Colnect Die-Cast Models Catalog can be filtered from the Catalog drop-down menu by the following properties:
- Model Types: A kind of an object represented by a model
- Countries: The country where the die-cast model is made.
- Series Numbers: The number of a model in series.
- Brands: The brand of the die-cast model. It's often the same as the name of a company that produced the model.
- Make: The brand of an object (usually a vehicle) represented by the model. If the prototype doesn't belong to a particular make Generic is used.
- Scales: The relation between the real size of the object and its size on a model.
- Compositions: The material the model is made of. Options are:
- Genres: The differentiation of models by special characteristics. Currently such genres are available:
- Publisher: The company that issued the model in a definite country. It's often a different company than the one that produced the model.
- Colors: The color used for the model. A multi-value field. If the model has many colors, Multi-color may be used.
- Prototype Years: The first and last years of issue of the object represented by a model, if known.
- Years: The first year of model issue, if known.
- Catalogs: The name of the catalog used for the catalog code. Colnect Codes (Colnect's own numbering system) and MPN (Manufacturer part number, sometimes also equialently called serial number, factory code, stock keeping unit number) are used.
- Recently updated: Die-cast models where at least one piece of information was changed in the last 30 calendar days. The last change applied is used to determine the change age of the model. This can be further filtered by the last 1, 3, 7, 14 and 30 calendar days.
- Newly added: Die-cast models added to the Colnect Die-Cast Model Catalog within the last 30 calendar days. This can be further filtered by the last 1, 3, 7, 14, and 30 calendar days.
- Import Log: A list of all New Item Forms (NIFs) that have been imported since the creation of the Colnect Die-Cast Models category. It shows date, the person who created the NIF, the coordinator who imported it, the number of models imported, and the country of the model. Please note that it is not possible to find the models that were in the NIF, this information is not stored in the database.
The catalog also contains other properties to further describe die-cast models:
- Name (60 characters): The name of the die-cast model.
- Series: The series, if any, the die-cast model belongs to.
- Variant: If a die-cast model is marked as a variant, you can get a list of all variants of this die-cast model by clicking on Click to see variants.
- Catalog Code: The Colnect Code consists of the brand and model type abbreviations, hyphens and a consecutive 6-digit number. Example: IX-CA-000087 (IX: Ixo -: hyphen CA: Car 000087: consecutive number). Colnect codes are added automatically. Manufacturer part number (MPN) is an assigned by a manufacturer, unique, alphanumeric value used to identify a product among other products from the same manufacturer.
- Description: A detailed description of the die-cast model. This may include information on how to distinguish variants.
- Main Picture, Second Picture and Third Picture: The main picture of the die-cast model must be added, additional pictures are optional. Please follow the Picture Guidelines.
