Varvara Bubnova (1886-1983) was a Russian painter, graphic artist, and art teacher. She studied at the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture, and Architecture, and later taught at the Moscow State Art Institute. Bubnova was a member of the Association of Artists of Revolutionary Russia and exhibited her works in various exhibitions throughout the Soviet Union. She is best known for her landscapes and still lifes, which often incorporated elements of the avant-garde movement. Lev Efimovich Solovyev (1894-1973) was a Soviet/Russian archaeologist and art historian who specialized in the study of ancient and medieval art and architecture. He worked as a professor at Moscow State University and led numerous excavations in Russia, Georgia, and Armenia. Solovyev is particularly known for his contributions to the study of early Christian and Byzantine art, as well as his work on the architecture of ancient Caucasian cultures.
