To end the Second World War, Treaty of Peace with Japan, generally known as San Francisco Peace Treaty, was signed by Japan and 48 other nations at San Francisco on September 8, 1951, at the Opera House in the city. The treaty enabled Japan to regain sovereignty and status in international recognition. The stamp depicts the Opera House and representative autumnal flowers in Japan, which are shown in mother- of- pearl style.
