This item was produced and distributed by illegal stamp producers who have consistently produced illegal stamps in the name of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic since they became independent in and began issuing local stamps in 1991. Research is needed in determining the validity of any stamps in the name of this republic before buying them.
The illegal stamps usually give the region's name in Cyrillic, as 'ПМР' , although sometimes the Latin letters 'PMR' are seen instead. There is no consistent practice, with some stamps only inscribed in Cyrillic and others only in Latin.
Transnistria has never been a member of PostEurop and does not issue Europa stamps or any other Europa philatelic material.
