The coin (used as a gaming chip) was minted by the Pobjoy Mint & issued in 1979 by the Palace Hotel Casino to commemorate the Isle of Man's Millennium Year (1,000 years of uninterrupted self-government)
It was deemed to contravene 'The Manx Currency Act' & was withdrawn
It features the Isle of Man '3 Legs' triskeles emblem & the words "PALACE HOTEL & CASINO ONE POUND" on one side & a Viking Longship in full sail & the words "MILLENNIUM OF TYNWALD 1979" on the other side
