Advantages of Colnect V2

This post lists a few of the advantages of Colnect V2.

* Support for different types of collectibles. Currently we're starting with over 12,000 coins and 67,000 stamps. The system is flexible and will be able to accomodate more collectible items: baseball cards, tokens, banknotes and whichever other collectibles you would like to add.

* The new forums system (phpBB3) has MANY new features (including proper multilingual support) and is much better than the previous one (phpBB2).

* The user interface is easier to use. No more 'Update Collection' button. JavaScript must be enabled.

* Advanced filtering options: you can add/remove filter parts when viewing lists of items.

* Flexible sorting options.

* New accounts on Colnect V2 can be created only with verified email addresses to prevent fake accounts. Only members which have the system long enough can rate other members.

* Privacy options if you don't want your lists to be visible to other members.

* Collector ratings are shown on every list.

I have been thinking about the rating issue for a while. There was an instance when a member wanted to rate me, but could not because they were not on the system long enough. I think this is slighlty unfair, because a new collector to the site my have a glowing reputation, but because of where they are based, may get discriminated against. The member I am talking about is from Iran, and other collectors there are known cheaters, but this person was not....we had swapped many times before.

Can we implement a system that allows the new member to rate other members as soon as they receive a certain amount of positive ratings. As we can only rate a person once, we could set the minimum requirement at maybe 3 therefore it would be impossible to create fake ratings. This would also give other collectors a positive piece of mind.

First, please start a NEW topic for every suggestion / bug report.

There is no problem to rate new members so there's no discrimination here. The limitation is on new members rating others. The waiting period depends on their use of Colnect and is not too long for active collectors.

Allowing members with 3 positive rating to rate does NOT protect from ghost accounts.

You can rate a member once but change that rating whenever you like.
