Fast Food Toys

Postby SteveJ09 »

So I was just wondering if there was anyone around here collecting fast food toys?

I have to admit I was a little surprised that there wasn't a category for it here at colnect but maybe nobody collects these things anymore? Saying that there hasn't been a print catalogue for fast food toys since the early 2000s and the web catalogues have been abandoned now anyway.

Best Wishes,

~Steve

Actually I would be more than willing to coordinate a fast food toys category here, I'm familiar with the NIF system, editing etc but at the moment there doesn't appear to be much interest in collecting these items, unless all of the collectors are hiding in the closet somewhere :)

Provide it and they will come. Same with Lego....not many people on here interested but I decided to go for it. Its been slow progress but its almost finished.

People out there do collect fast food toys. I used to work at Burger King in NZ and I would sell toys through local auction sites...there is interest.

A good thing to add in there is Kinder Suprise as well.

Good idea & good luck!!

Thanks for the encouragement... It would sure be a lot of work to catalogue but it could be done.. I'm not really familiar with Kinder Surprise toys but an interesting idea anyway!

Oh and good luck with the Lego section too :)

Give it a go, If You Build It, They Will Come, so it was said.

If you can , just have a read through the link i sent you and probably construct a prototype Fast Food NIF with a couple items for testing, and everything will pretty much build from there.

If it also help, you can also search around for threads of some of our recently-installed collectibles (Sugar packets, stickers, lego, trading cards etc) and have a read at how the category was constructed there.

Good luck :D

Thanks for the advise, my current thinking is, it's a big job and right now I have several other large web projects to coordinate and I wouldn't like to take a job like this on at the moment, only to disappoint..

But I'll keep all of that in mind for the future, perhaps in a couple of months. If anyone does want to start this category I'm more than happy to donate a whole bunch of catalogs, they are all in xml but I could write a script to put them in a NIF for easy updating.

Thanks again guys for your advise and best of luck to you all :)

Thank you for the idea. I hope to see it happening in some time on Colnect, maybe when you have more time.
