In March 1947, the Greek authorities took over the military administration of the Dodecanese from their British counterpart. This stamp was issued without the approval of the Athens postal administration. It consists of a black imprint Σ.Δ.Δ. (Dodecanese Military Administration) and a black frame as a sign of mourning for the death of King George II.
