- Description:
- In 2017 (when Stamperija produced this series) there was still no existing Somalia run mail system in Somalia. Plans were in the works to re-establish but nothing had been set until the latest announcements made in 2025. In those announcements the Somalia Ministry of Communications and Technology clearly state that the Somalia Postal Service has been suspended for nearly 36 years. This is the only series ever produced by Stamperija in the name of Somalia and is exclusively sold on their website only. For a time in 2017 they personally offered it on certain stamp selling venues, but even that stopped when it was recognized there was still no postal system within Somalia and all international mailings were through the UAR by agreement made in 2013. Still, certain known counterfeit dealers offered them through 2022. None of the major catalogs (except Michel) listed any Somalia stamps after 2003 due to the fact there was no postal system in Somalia. Sn stopped listing them from 1992 forward. Only Michel and Yvert continued.
In 2018- Michel catalog listed this series as a 2017 issue. In 2024-5 suddenly Michel catalog added a note stating: "This issue was released with the help of the Djiboutian Post in 2017. However, due to a lack of communication, the main distribution of the stamps only began in early 2023.". This is clearly a deceptive ploy to sell the series. STILL no usage in 2023. Djibouti is controlled by Stamperija so it is NOT Djibouti Post "helping" Somalia. As stated by the Somalia Ministry in 2025, NO postal services that would use this series was enacted yet. Therefore, it is obvious that Michel is continuing to be influenced to list by the agency. Not the government of Somalia. Because Somalia did not resume control of the postal services of Somalia until the announcement in May, 2025, there is no way there was any official contract with Somalia for Stamperija to produce this series. Therefore, it is advised to avoid this series due to the shady practices enacted by a dealer run stamp agency trying to sell what they obviously mass produced to sell to collectors in 2017 without any evidence of postal need by Somalia for years. - Buy Now:
