Description:

El Tiempo (The time), as it is known in Colombia and in the world, is the most circulated newspaper in the country. It was founded on January 30th, 1911 by Alfonso Villegas Restrepo.
In 1913 it was bought by Eduardo Santos Montejo, who was the editor of the newspaper until 1937 when he decided to launch for the presidency of Colombia, which he ruled from 1938 to 1942.
The El Tiempo newspaper has been directed by famous journalists for long periods. For example, Roberto García-Peña was its director from 1939 to 1981.
The current president of the nation exercised the subdirectorate of the newspaper between 1982 and 1991 and presidents such as Carlos Lleras Restrepo and Alberto Lleras Camargo or candidates for the same as Luis Carlos Galán, were in charge of the drafting.
At present time is the visible head of a mass media group that includes newspapers, magazines, a television channel, a cable news channel, as well as commercial and informative internet sites.
