Built in Italy for the Sultan of Morocco, who bought it to use as a pleasure yacht, it highlighted its Arab-style decorations. The Colombian government acquired it in 1902 and was subjected to modernization in Cuba, where it was armed to perform as a war cruiser and as a practice ship of the National Naval School in 1908. It was later sold in 1916.
