He was born in Saint Petersburg, Russia, and studied at the University of St. Petersburg, where he later became a professor. Varvara Bubnova (1886-1983) was a Russian painter, graphic artist, and art teacher. She studied at the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture, and Architecture, and later taught at the Moscow State Art Institute. Bubnova was a member of the Association of Artists of Revolutionary Russia and exhibited her works in various exhibitions throughout the Soviet Union. She is best known for her landscapes and still lifes, which often incorporated elements of the avant-garde movement.
