El Dorado Passenger Terminal was designed during the government of General Gustavo Rojas Pinilla. Its construction began in 1955 and entered in service at the end of 1959. El Dorado, located in Bogotá, is the third busiest airport in Latin America in terms of passenger traffic, the second busiest in terms of aircraft movements, and the most important in terms of cargo. El Dorado is also by far the most important airport in Colombia.
