The XVIII Bolivarian games of 2017 were hold in the city of Santa Marta, Colombia, between 11 and 25 November 2017, with the participation of athletes from 11 countries competing in 34 sports, in 50 disciplines. The Bolivarian Games are held every four years and depend on the Bolivarian Sports Organization (ODEBO) which, in turn, is part of the Pan American Sports Organization (PASO), a subsidiary of the International Olympic Committee.
The Bolivarian Games are held at the regional level among athletes from the Bolivarian nations Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Panama, Peru and Venezuela, countries freed by Sim贸n Bol铆var, a man who dedicated his life to give freedom to oppressed peoples by the Spanish Crown.
