The quay was built in 1888, conceived as the final part of the Barranquilla Maritime terminal located in the the township of Sabanilla,Puerto Colombia. Its design and construction were in charge of the Cuban engineer Francisco Javier Cisneros. On its top there is a beautiful church and colonial Convent of the Order of Augustinian Recollects built between 1609 and 1611. - The Romelio MartĂnez Stadium, was conceived on 1932, because that year the National Games of Colombia were to be made in Barranquilla. The stadium was finished on 1934 with the name of "Estadio Municipal" (Municipal Stadium). The initial capacity of the stadium was of 10,000 spectators. It had a wooden structure that support the deck of the grandstand and the architectural stadium's style is Art Deco.
