Additional Information: Grandmother Moon is always ready to share her loving wisdom, and this captivating coin series brings you her life teachings with 13 original woodland designs. Canada's Indigenous people view every aspect of nature as a living relation that plays an active role in their lives. And although variations do exist due to geography and climate, Grandmother Moon is a central figure, her kind and gentle ways always a common thread.
For the Anishnaabe people, the woodland cultures that extend from the eastern seaboard to the Great Lakes, and the headwaters of the Mackenzie River, Grandmother Moon is ever-present, making 13 appearances throughout the year as she watches over Mother Earth's children and lights up their paths. Every moon brings a new teaching that is illustrated in each coin design to foster understanding and respect for all of Earth's creatures -- a stunning work of art with a unique insight into Indigenous life! - Buy Now:

Reverse: Features an intertwined sun and moon engraved at the centre of a celestial circle, which is divided into 30-degree sections that house each of the 12 western zodiac signs (counterclockwise ⟲ from the 9 o’clock position): Aries ♈︎, Taurus ♉︎, Gemini ♊︎, Cancer ♋︎, Leo ♌︎, Virgo ♍︎, Libra ♎︎, Scorpio ♏︎, Sagittarius ♐︎, Capricorn ♑︎, Aquarius ♒︎ and Pisces ♓︎. Set against a deep blue night sky filled with stars, the zodiac signs are rendered in an illustrative style and paired with their engraved glyph, which appears in the inner ring. The sun’s long rays form divisional lines, as they radiate outward towards the moon phases engraved along the outer edge in counterclockwise order, beginning with the new moon in the 12 o’clock position.

Reverse: Presents a new interpretation of the traditional Raven figure of Inuit legends. Realistically depicted on the lower engraved portion of the design, a raven perched on a branch and surrounded by trees represents each of us, grounded in our sense of self. The other, rendered in bas-relief, gleefully soars high into the sky upon realizing they are Raven, Creator of Life. An achromatic hologram (a three-dimensional image created with nanotechnology-based imagining) softens the full moon’s features and captures its magnificent luminosity, while the aurora borealis dances in the night sky. The spectrum of colours seemingly shifts depending on the viewing angle, creating the illusion of motion as it illuminates the raven’s feathers; designer at lower right BJ (Bronson Jacque). State name and date ↷ at top CANADA 2025.
