The Red-Back Spider is one of the few Australian spider species whose bite can be life-threatening to humans. The female specimens can reach a length of 10 to 12 mm, whereas the males are clearly smaller with a length of 3 to 4 mm. Its most striking feature is the orange to red colored stripe on its back.
