- Virgilio Barco Vargas (17 September 1921 – 20 May 1997) was the 27th President of Colombia serving from 1986 to 1990.
He supported anti-poverty programs, renewed dialogue with leftist guerillas and fought drug traffickers. Though he was popular within the international community, he became less popular in Colombia because the drug traffickers became more violent after he started to move against them. His restrictive economic policies at first doomed the country. - Julio César Turbay Ayala (18 June 1916 – 13 September 2005) was a Colombian lawyer who served as the 25th President of Colombia from 1978 to 1982.
In response to an increase in guerrilla activity from the 19th of April Movement (M-19) and the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, as well as to the Colombian Communist Party's attempts to extend its political influence and a 1977 national strike, a 1978 decree, known as the Security Statute, was implemented by Turbay's administration. Also, The M-19's late 1980 takeover of the Dominican Republic's embassy, during which sixteen ambassadors were held hostage for 61 days, presented a complicated challenge to the Turbay administration. - Jetzt kaufen:

- Misael Eduardo Pastrana Borrero (14 November 1923 – 21 August 1997) was the 23rd President of Colombia from 1970 to 1974.
During his four years in office, Pastrana was cautiously progressive. He sought to increase employment opportunities with a famous four-point strategy. He attempted to boost national savings as a way of moving away from dependency on foreign investment and credit, and he extended pensions rights for many people.
At the same time, he was a champion of "a car for every Colombian family", and was instrumental in bringing the French car-makers Renault to Colombia. He also promoted the first national environmental legislation in Latin America.
The end of his four year-term in office came in 1974, which also saw the end of the National Front governments. Pastrana then took on the mantle of the "natural leader" of the Conservative party. He proved unable to hold the different factions of the party together, however, and in consequence there has only been two Conservative presidents since his own term in office.

- Carlos Apolinar Lemos Simmonds (Popayán, October 23, 1933 –Bogotá, July 30, 2003) was the sixth Vice President of Colombia.
After graduating Lemos worked as a Municipal Judge in the town of Piendamó, Cauca. He later transferred to Bogotá where he was elected councilman in the early 1970s for three consecutive terms. He then ran for the Chamber of Representatives of Colombia. During the government of President Julio César Turbay Lemos was appointed as Secretary General of the Presidency of Colombia. In the same administration he was promoted to minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, after that he was shifted to different ministries, Ministry of Government, Ministry of Information Technologies and Communications (Colombia).
Lemos served later as Ambassador of Colombia to the Organization of American States (OAS), drafter of the Colombian Constitution of 1991, Ambassador of Colombia to Austria, Ambassador of Colombia to Great Britain, senator, vice president and president of Colombia temporarily.
As a member of the Colombian Foreign Affairs Commission he contributed towards resolving the dispute over San Andrés y Providencia Islands in the Caribbean sea between Colombia and Nicaragua for territorial waters. He also negotiated the peace process with the M-19 guerrilla. - Jetzt kaufen:

- Indalecio Lievano Aguirre was a Colombian diplomat, historian and politician, born in Bogotá on July 24, 1917 and died in the same city on March 29, 1982. Bachelor of the Colegio Mayor de San Bartolomé, he studied law at the Javeriana University in 1944. Thanks to his degree thesis, he was appointed Correspodiente member of the Colombian Academy of History, and was promoted to number member in 1950.
After starting in journalism, he held several diplomatic positions in the liberal governments of the 1940s and with Gustavo Rojas Pinilla. In 1964 he was elected representative to the House and in 1970 he arrived in the Senate. In 1974 he was re-elected senator and President Alfonso LĂłpez Michelsen appointed him Minister for Foreign Affairs. Soon he became the government's Star minister and in 1975 he was responsible for a few days of the presidency of the Republic.
