The collector glossary is intended to help collectors find the appropriate Colnect category relevant to their collectibles, as some collectibles can serve more than one purpose and therefore may be found in several categories. Colnect's policy is to have a collectible only present in the one category that reflects its main purpose or its main characteristic, thus avoiding duplicates in the catalog.

3d kart - a postcard with the picture that appears in 3D. This can be done with different techniques, such as lenticular printing or hologram.

4-track cartridge (Stereo-Pak) - an analogue music storage format. Its ¼" magnetic tape contains four music tracks.

8-track cartridge (Stereo 8) - a magnetic tape sound recording technology. An 8-track cartridge contains four pairs of stereo tracks; the later quadraphonic cartridges had two sets of four tracks.

Agency Issued Stamp - a stamp produced by a third-party agency on behalf of a postal administration with its authorization but where the vast majority of the total stamps of each issue were sold directly to the philatelic market by the agency, with very few copies of each issue being delivered to the postal administration for use in the country.

Aircraft Safety Card - a document instructing passengers on an aircraft about the procedures for dealing with various emergency conditions that might arise during the flight.

Albom - a collection of audio recordings issued on a definite media including digital distribution.

Antivərəm markası - a label created to raise funds for tuberculosis charities; it usually contains the double-barred cross symbol. Anti tuberculosis stamps used on mail during the Christmas season are a kind of Christmas seals.

Artist - a person or band that performs track(s) of the music record.

Asetat - a type of phonograph record used in the 1930s-1950s for recording and broadcast purposes. An acetate disc is created by using a recording lathe to cut an audio-signal-modulated groove into the surface of a lacquer-coated blank disc.

At yarışları kartı - a sports card that features jockeys or equestrian related theme.

ATM nişanları - a stamp, which is dispensed by automates and gets its value imprinted only at the time of purchase.

Attachment - typically a piece of cloth (or less often metal), which indicates rank insignia or wearer's affiliation with an organization.

Axmonital - a stainless steel alloy which consists mostly of iron, used to produce coins.

Açıqca - a rectangular (rarely other shaped) piece of thick paper or thin cardboard intended for writing and mailing without an envelope.

Aşırı çap - an additional layer of text or graphics added to the face of a stamp or postal stationery after it has been printed.

Badge - a small piece of metal, plastic or cloth worn to show allegiance, membership, authority within an organization, achievement, etc.

Bank Kartı - usually a plastic card issued by a bank to its clients that performs one or more services which relate to giving the client access to funds, either from the client's own bank account, or through a credit account.

Banknot - a promissory note payable to the bearer on demand, issued by central bank for money circulation.

Bankomat Kartı - a special card issued by a bank that enables a customer to access their financial accounts via automated teller machines (ATMs). It performs such functions as checking your balance or withdrawing money, but purchases cannot be made with an ATM card.

Baqaj etiketi - a card with the name and contact details written on it, attached to a piece of luggage to locate its owner if lost in transit.

Basketbol kartı - a sports card featuring one or more basketball players or a basketball-related theme.

Bağlamalar üçün poçt markaları - a stamp issued to pay for the transportation of parcels, i.e. larger items than letters.

Başdan quyruğa - a joined pair of stamps printed intentionally or accidentally in upside-down direction to one another. A pair of tête-bêches can be a vertical or a horizontal pair. Triangular stamps can be linked only "head-to-tail". Tête-bêche is a type of the se-tenant.

Betacam - a range of half-inch professional videocassette products.

Betacam SP (Superior Performance) - half-inch professional videocassette product with increased resolution.

Betamax - an analog recording and cassette format of magnetic tape for video.

Beyzbol kartı - a sports card featuring one or more baseball players or a baseball-related theme.

Birgə Buraxılış - a coordinated issue by two or more separate countries that commemorates the same thing, where the stamps of the series have a uniform design, or have common design elements.

Birinci gün bloku - a sheet of paper with the stamp(s) cancelled on their first day of issue.

Birinci gün üzlük (FDC) - an envelope with the stamp(s) cancelled on their first day of issue. In most cases a special first day commemorative cancellation is used but there are FDCs with a regular cancellation.

Blu-Ray Disc (BD) - a digital optical disc for storing high-definition (HD) video and large amounts of data (like video games, musiqi yazıları, etc.); successor to DVD format, designed to supersede it.

Boks kartı - a sports card that features one or more boxers or a boxing-related theme.

Box Set - a set of musical recordings packaged in a box and offered for sale as a single item.

Brandophilist - a collector of cigar bands.

Burmalı Qapaq - a plastic or metallic cap which is screwed on and off a thread around the opening of a bottle, jar, etc.

Burulma qapaq - a type of crown cap, which is opened by turning.

Butterfly Clutch - a device that attaches to the back of a pin to secure it to clothing.

Buzüstü hokkey kartı - a sports card that features one or more ice hockey players or ice hockey related theme. The first hockey cards were included in cigarette packages; some hockey cards were printed by food and candy companies.

Bülleten - a brochure containing information on a new philatelic issue.

Cancelled To Order (CTO) - a stamp condition describing stamps the issuing postal service has cancelled (marked as used), but that has not traveled through the post.

Candy Bar Wrapper - a packaging which is used to cover chocolatecereal candy bars.

Candy Wrapper - a packaging used to cover chocolatecaramel candies.

Caps - a round disc usually made of cardboard or plastic used for playing games.

Cardboard Box - a style of cardboard packaging without a flip top for storing cigarettes and cigars.

Cartophily - the hobby of collecting trade cards, mostly cigarette cards. A lot of TCG-lər using trade cards exist.

Cartridge - a removable case that contains a magnetic tape or one or more disks and used as a computer storage medium; also made for dedicated video game consoles.

Cartrivision - an analog videocassette format. The square Cartrivision cassette had the two reels of half-inch magnetic tape mounted on top of each other and could record up to 114 minutes.

Cava - a white or rosé sparkling wine from Spain.

CD Video (CD-V) - a format of optical media disc combining the technologies of standard compact disc and LaserDisc.

Chain Necklace Medal - a loose-hanging medal, generally attached by a small loop to a necklace.

Cib Təqvimləri - a calendar printed on a small rectangular card made of paper or cardboard, designed to fit in a pocket.

Cigar Pack - a pack for storing rolled dried and fermented tobacco leaves used for smoking.

Clad Coin - a coin that has multiple layers of metal in it.

Cocktail Napkin - a napkin, which is placed under a drink when it is served; usually has the size 10"x10" when unfolded.

Collector - a person who collects objects of a particular type as a hobby.

Colnector - a collector who is a member of Colnect.

Commemorative Sheet - a sheet which contains one or more stamps, issued to remind of a special event; it is cancelled according to the event.

Compact Disc (CD) - a portable medium used to record, store and play back audio, video and other digital data.

Compound Chocolate - a kind of chocolate made from a combination of cocoa powder, vegetable fat and sweeteners instead of cocoa mass and cocoa butter used to make pure chocolate.

Cover With Collectibles - a cover with canceled stamps that contains other collectibles (sikkələr, banknotes, phonecards, etc.).

Cut-out - a printed stamp cut out from postal stationery.

Dartma qapağı - a type of bottle cap that has a ring, which can be pulled in order to detach the cap from the bottle.

Daşıma bileti - a document approving that a certain person or persons have purchased entrance or seat to journey on a transport.

DC-International (Double Cassette-International) - a two-roll tape cassette format.

Debit Kard - a plastic payment card that allows the holder to transfer money electronically from the holder's bank account when making a purchase instead of using cash.

Deltiologiya - the study and collection of postcards.

Demonstration Card or Demo Card - the demonstration card was produced by the manufacturer companies to promote the use of their own technology used in the production of telephone cards. The demonstration boards were often distributed during exhibition fairs, always in very limited quantities.

Digital Audio Tape (DAT) - a digital signal recording and playback medium, which is similar to a compact cassette using magnetic tape enclosed in a protective shell, but is about half the size.

Digital Compact Cassette (DCC) - a magnetic tape sound recording format introduced as the successor to the analog compact cassette.

Digital Versatile Disc (DVD) - a portable medium, type of compact disc to store large amounts of data, in particular high-resolution audiovisual material (like video games, musiqi yazıları, etc.).

Dinner Napkin - a napkin used when dinner is served; most widespread sizes are 17"x17", 22"x22" və 24"x24" when unfolded.

Disk Card - a memory card format used in portable devices.

Drink/Beverage Can - a container intended to hold a fixed portion of a beverage.

Drop Catcher - a small piece of absorbent paper put around the bottom part of a beer glass to prevent its contents from dripping onto the table. Sometimes drop catchers are used as beer coasters.

Dördlülər (Sevimli Ailələr) - a card game played with three or more players with the aim to win all the sets of four (quarts).

Dəsmal kartı - a hotel card used to get a large towel for the pool or beach.

Edison Disc - a type of phonograph record marketed by Thomas A. Edison, Inc. The Edison Disc Phonograph with a permanent conical diamond stylus was used for playing such a record.

Elcaset (L-cassette, large cassette) - an audio format combining the performance of reel-to-reel with cassette convenience. The tape inside the Elcaset is double the width of compact cassette tape.

Elongated Coin - a coin that have been elongated (pressed or stretched) and embossed with a new design in order to create a commemorative or souvenir token. The collecting of elongated coins is a branch of numismatics and categorized as exonumia.

Emergency Coinage - coins issued in a time of economic or political crisis. Notgeld is an example of emergency coinage.

Endirim Kartları - a plastic or paper card that allows the holder to get discounts on the prices of some products or services.

Endirim Kartı - a card issued by a supermarket or store to its customers and used to accumulate credit points awarded for money spent in the store, which may be used for future purchases or getting discounts.

EP - an extended play music record that contains more tracks than a single but less than an album, usually up to six tracks.

Erinnofiliya - a branch of philately, which studies non-postage stamps.

Esse - a stamp (or other object) design submitted to postal authorities, but ultimately not used.

Etiketlər - a piece of printed paper or plastic with pressure sensitive adhesive on one side; stickers are usually put on things such as lunchboxes, paper, lockers, notebooks, in children's rooms and collectors sticker albums.

Event Cover/Postcard - a cover/postcard that commemorates an event and generally has a drawing or memorial written - called "cachet" - which explains what is commemorated on that date and a stamp canceled on the day of the event.

Exonumia (Paranumismatica) - numismatic items as tokens, medals and decorations, including numismatic medals.

Fast Food Oyuncağı - a toy included with a fast food meal, usually contained in a box or paper bag. The toy is often a part of a marketing tie-in to a film, television show or toy brand.

Filateliya - the study and collection of postage poçt markası and related items such as booklets, booklet panes, mini sheets, souvenir sheets, annual collections, annual gifts, bulletins, covers with various collectibles, event covers and postcards, first day covers, first day sheets, other first day issues, fiscal philately, international reply coupons, philatelic cards, post stationery, presentation packs, commemorative sheets, special prints.

Filateliya kartı - a rigid and plasticized card containing a stamp.

Filateliya Əşyaları - a collective term for anything related to philately that is not a stamp (but may contain stamps).

Film Reel - a light circular frame around which a cinema film or magnetic tape is wrapped.

First Day Philatelic Product - a philatelic object (not a cover or sheet, but a postal card, postal stationery, cardstock paper, etc.) that is canceled with a first day postmark.

First Edition - a first published separate edition of a comics in its earliest version.

Fiscal Philately - an approval of payment of a fee. The typical tax markings are revenue stamps, revenue tax strips, revenue stamped paper, bills of exchange, ancient and modern documents bearing taxation fingerprints, etc.

Flippos - a Dutch brand name of the plastic discs in the chips that children used for games during the mid 1990s.

Floppy Disk - a magnetic storage medium in a square plastic enclosure that allows reading and recording digital data (among others music, video games, etc.) when the disk is inserted into a floppy disk drive (FDD) connected to a computer or other device.

Foil - a very thin sheet of metal, used, among others, to produce food packageschocolate wrappers.

Fold - the amount of times a napkin is folded.

Franşiza markası - a postage stamp for use on free mail by an individual or organisation.

Fromology - the hobby of collecting cheese labels.

Fruit Wrapper (Citrus Wrapper) - a piece of wrapping tissue paper used for wrapping mostly citrus fruits. Fruit wrappers are often printed with fruits distributors branding.

Funksional (reklam) kartları - a plastic card used for a specific function, such as a discount card, loyalty card, membership card və ya internet access card.

Fusilately - the hobby of collecting phonecards.

Futbol (Avstraliya) Kart - a sports card that features one or more Australian soccer players or an Australian soccer related theme.

Futbol (Gridiron) Kart - a sports card that features one or more American football, Canadian football or World League of American Football players or other related themes.

Futbol (Soccer) Kart - a sports card that features one or more soccer players or soccer related theme.

Gambling (Casino) Talon - a small disc used as a currency in casinos.

Generic - having no particular brand name.

Gutter Block - a block of at least four stamps separated by a gutter.

Gutter Margin - a margin, which divides a sheet of stamps into separate panes.

Gutter Pair - two stamps separated by a gutter.

Hard Pack - a style of cardboard packaging for cigarettes, which forms a relatively stable box with a flip top.

Hava poçt markası - a stamp intended for mail that should be transported by air.

Hava poçtu yarı-poçt - a semi-postal stamp used for mail that should be transported by air.

Hava yolları altıqları - a promotional coaster issued by an airline.

Hava yolları xatirə əşyaları - items collected for their connection with airlines and aviation in general such as brochures, books, coasters, postcards, photographs, safety cards, etc.

Hesab Kartı - a card issued for savings deposit holders.

High Definition Digital Versatile Disc (HD DVD) - a high-density optical disc format used for storing large amounts of data and playback of high-definition video.

HitClips - a digital audio exchangeable cartridge that contains low-fidelity mono one-minute clips of usually teen pop hits and intended to be played back with the HitClips digital audio player.

Hotel Altlıqları - a promotional coaster issued for a hotel.

Hotel Kartları - a type of keycard used as an alternative to mechanical keys at hotels.

Hotel və Pivəxana Altlıqları - a coaster issued for a hotel that has its own brewery.

Hotel-Restoran Altlıqları - a coaster issued for a restaurant owned by a hotel.

Hybrid - a type of media that combines several formats (for example, DualDisc with DVD on one side and CD on the other).

Hədiyyə Kartı - a restricted monetary equivalent that is issued by retailers or banks to be used as an alternative to a non-monetary gift and can be exchanged for goods or services of a specified value.

Hərbi markalar - a stamp issued to active-duty serving military for their private mail.

International Reply Coupon - a coupon that can be exchanged for one or more postage stamps representing the minimum postage for an unregistered priority airmail letter of up to twenty grams sent to another member country of the Universal Postal Union (UPU).

Jurnal - a periodical publication containing miscellaneous articles and illustrations, often on a particular subject.

Kanada Təkər Pulları - loyalty program coupons, issued by Canadian retail chain Canadian Tire, which resemble banknotes.

Kataloq - a list of items arranged systematically with descriptive details.

Kazino Kartı - a membership or player card used to identify a player in a specific gambling establishment or casino. Essentially a functional card.

Kağız Salfetlər - a square piece of tissue paper used while eating to wipe the mouth, hands, etc.

Kağız Sancaqlar - a piece of bent wire, metal or plastic used for holding several sheets of paper together.

Kids Meal Toy - a toy that is given with the purchase of a food item.

Kinder sürpriz - a chocolate egg containing a small toy, often requiring assembly.

Kitabçılıq - a pane (or minisheet) of stamps that are specifically produced for booklets.

Kompakt kaset - an analog magnetic tape recording format for audio recording and playback. A cassette contains two miniature spools, between which the magnetic tape (magnetically coated plastic film) is passed and wound.

Kpop Card - a collectible photocard bearing an exclusive photo of a Korean pop star.

Kredit Kard - a plastic payment card issued to cardholders to allow buying goods and services on credit. Collecting credit cards is a part of exonumia.

Kriket kartı - a sports card that features one or more cricket players or a cricket-related theme.

Kruiz gəmi kartı - a plastic card that serves various functions for passengers on a cruise ship.

Kənar - the up-raised part of a coin that encircles the diameter on both obverse and reverse sides.

Labology - collecting of drink labels in general and beer labels in particular.

Lacrosse Card - a sports card that features one or more lacrosse players or other lacrosse related theme.

LaserDisc (LD) - the first commercial optical 30 cm disc storage medium that requires the use of analog video signals.

Last Day Cover - a cover with a stamp canceled on the last day of its validity.

Lathe Cut - a polycarbonate disc containing a phonograph record made by cutting micro-grooves with a record lathe.

Lego dəsti - a plastic construction set for making toy models.

Lego Magazine Gift - a gift Lego set received with a Lego magazine issue.

Lego Minifiqurlar - a small Lego figure representing a toy character; minifigures come with different clothing and facial designs.

Lego Çıxma Təqvimi - seasonal Lego sets released annually before Christmas.

Lent - an award presented to mark an achievement, commemorating an event, etc.

Lobya - a small object (figurine etc.) hidden in some kinds of dessert such as a king cake.

Lotologiya - the collection of lottery tickets.

Lotoreya Biletləri - a piece of paper or cardboard bought in order to participate in a lottery.

Lunch Napkin - a napkin used mostly for meals during which people will want to wipe their hands, usually has the size 13"x13" when unfolded.

Machine Token - a coin-like object intended to enable using various kinds of machines, like arcade, slot, car washing, etc. machines.

Maksimum kartlar - a postcard with a postage stamp placed on the picture side of the card and tied by the cancellation, usually the first day of issue.

Marka Printeri - a company that printed the stamp.

Medal - a metal disc, bearing a picture or/and words on it, given as a reward for a brave action, for winning a competition, or to remember a special event.

Memory Stick - a removable flash memory card format.

Metal Can - a metallic packaging used for storing cigarettes, cigars and tobacco.

Meter Stamp - an imprint made by a postage meter (franking) machine to indicate that postage has been paid.

Meyvə Etiketləri - a sticker attached to a fruit or a vegetable. Such stickers often brand the fruit or vegetable to a particular distributor and may contain PLU (Price Look-Up) Code.

Microcassette - an audio storage medium that uses the same width of magnetic tape (however thinner and with lower speed) as the compact cassette but in about one quarter smaller cassette.

Mighty Tiny - a small vinyl disc intended to be played back with the Mighty Tiny mini record player.

Milad möhürü - a label used on mail during the Christmas season to raise funds and awareness for charitable programs.

Military Patch - an insignia of a military rank, military formation, seniority, wound, and others on a military uniform which is usually located on the shoulder or chest.

Mini qapaq stikerləri - a cover or seal of a small plastic cup used to contain milk or milk substitute.

Mini-Albom - a short album containing more tracks and having a slightly longer running length than EP.

MiniDisc (MD) - an erasable magneto-optical disc used for the storage of digitized audio.

MiniDV - a digital video recording on magnetic tape that uses the intra-frame DV compression.

Mint Hinged (MH) - a stamp condition describing unused stamps that have some disturbance from a stamp hinge.

Mint Never Hinged (MNH) - a stamp condition describing unused stamps that have full original undisturbed gum with no trace of damage done by a stamp hinge (also called "stamp mount", used to affix the stamp to a page of a stamp album).

Mobil Fiqur - a toy, which has two or more moving parts.

Music Record - a sound recorded on the information carrier that can be played back and reproduced.

Music Record Size - a size of the media used for the music record storage.

Music Record Speed - an indication of how fast the carrier with a music record is meant to spin on the turntable.

Music Style - a particular manner or technique by which music is performed.

Musiqi janrı - a category that identifies pieces of music as belonging to a shared tradition or set of conventions.

Möhür kitabçası - a small thin book that consists of a cover with one or more panes of stamps inside.

Müharibə vergi markası - a special type of a postal tax stamp where the revenue collected is being used to defray the costs of a war.

Nintendo - a brand of various video games played on a games console.

NT Cassette - a digital R-DAT (Rotating-head Digital Audio Tape) based memo recording system.

Numismatic Medal - a coin-like medal with or without face value.

Pocket Rocker - a miniature cassette (a smaller version of the 8-track tape) containing two songs in mono that was released for personal cassette players.

Pogs - a game with the use of POG (a brand of juice) bottle caps that was popular among children during the mid 1990s.

Postal Card - a postal stationery card with an imprinted image of a postage stamp or other sign confirming the prepayment of postage and used for sending messages by mail without an envelope. It mostly has a blank (without any printing) back side.

Postal Stationery - a stationery item, such as a postal card, stamped envelope, letter sheet, postal card with printed stamp, letter card, aerogram və ya wrapper, with an imprinted stamp or inscription indicating that a specific rate of postage or related service has been prepaid.

Pull Tab Lottery - a type of lottery where a ticket has at least one perforated tab, which, when opened, shows potential winning numbers or symbols.

Replica - a relatively faithful copy of a genuine original coin typically produced for collectors, educational use or other purposes; usually differentiated from counterfeit coins.

Reprint - a re-publication of the comics that has already been previously published.

Scratch Lottery Ticket - a small card having a part covered by an opaque coating that should be scratched off to reveal hidden information (prize etc.).

Se-tenant - stamps with different denominations, colours, design, etc., joined together side by side, printed on the same sheet, in a strip or block. The stamps can be either printed next to each other or be separated by one or more non-stamp fields (blank or with printing).

SelectaVision - a brand name used on several classes of device by RCA: the Holotape (a prototype video medium), magnetic tape, VHS videocassette recorders and Capacitance Electronic Disc (an analog video disc playback system, in which video and audio could be played back on a TV).

Semi-postal Stamp (Charity Stamp) - a postage stamp issued to raise money for some purpose, as usual for charity.

Tefifon - an audio playback format, developed in Germany, which uses cartridges loaded with an endlessly looped reel of plastic tape with grooves embossed on the tape, like a phonograph record.

Tegestologiya - collecting of beer mats or beer coasters, a part of breweriana.

Telefon jetonu - a disc-shaped metal token used to talk on public telephones. Telephone tokens were once widespread in Europe, Israel, Japan and South America.

Telefon kartı - a plastic card, used to pay for telephone services.

Teleqraf/Telefon markası - a stamp issued by postal administrations to pay for telegraph or telephone services provided by the national postal administration.

Tennis Card - a sports card that features one or more tennis players or other tennis related theme.

Tenth Lottery - a type of lottery where a lottery ticket is a perforated tear-apart sheet of 10 identical sub-tickets each of which gets 10% of a prize that the ticket has won.

Test Phonecard - card mostly used by manufacturer companies to test the correct operation of the card in telephone sets. Many test cards were given to technicians for this specific purpose, usually in very limited quantities and often destroyed after use.

Test, Proof, Sample & Demo Phonecards - set of all those cards belonging to the manufacturing, printing, testing and field testing process of the phone card. In many cases these are unique pieces or with very limited production, therefore difficult to find and often handwritten by the technicians.

Ticarət Sikkələri - coins usually intended not for circulation in the issuing country, but as bullion for buying goods from other countries.

Tobacciana - collecting everything related to tobacco, so called tobacco memorabilia. It includes cigarette packs, packets for cigarstobacco.
