NEW Improvements to the collector comments system

We are very happy to announce the new improvements to the comments system.

When the item you have in you collection/swap list/sell list doesn't have a picture yet, you will see a nice reminder which allows you to upload the missing picture.

Also, you will be able to add comments to all items directly from the items list page.

Following those changes our comments section's look has been refreshed to made your Colnect experience even better!

Useful, but old hat! I added such a reminder in December 2012 for all missing pictures. I had to delete everything after strong protests.

This feature only lets you know when you have the item but it doesn't have a picture on Colnect. Also, the message is shown instead of the no-picture placeholder, so it won't be annoying for the users

Anything what push people to improve catalog, but at the same time it's not annoying, is good idea

I believe is very useful , but i see it in every item. Shouldn't it be only in items which need improving ?

Like other members, I do not like the option to add a picture when there are already pictures there, it should only be shown on the items that need improvement.

Also if the pictures are uploaded immediately, without being vetted by an editor, then I think this is a very dangerous road to go down and we could end up with all sorts of rubbish as pictures.

What was wrong with the way it was before??????

I am sorry but I see this as a retrograde step and not an improvement.

All items could need improvements. e.g. Missing codes, wrong images, wrong informations ...

How should the machine knows, that everything is correct?

With this old 'noimage'-Image we couldn´t see the missing Images. So this new feature is really better.

I hope, that the old 'noimage'-Images are all deleted.

The Editor can decide to use the image as front or backside image. In my eyes it is no need for this.

I agree with the answers given by footy68. As it seems some members misunderstood the features described, I'll try to explain some more.

The "Improve our catalog" button allows both addition of comments and pictures. The fact that it's now so easy to add a comment directly from the item list page would encourage many non-editors to contribute missing information. If many members would complain that they dislike this button, we'll add an option to hide it. Submitting a picture/comment doesn't mean the item information is updated. All it means is that editors will see it and decide what to do with it. They can accept or reject any comment or image and assign any role (front/back/extra) to any image. Fearing this change will deteriorate the quality of the catalog is therefore unsubstantiated.

I think that, although these improvements have minimal benefit, they absolutely not necessary. If a person wants to make a comment, it will send it without these updates. These buttons under every subject are distracting and annoy the user. In addition, when a large number of personal folders spoil the look of the page. Please return the original format.
